Skin Needling

Smooth scarring, refine texture and restore firmness with a treatment that works with your skin’s natural healing process.

What Is Skin Needling?

Skin needling, also known as microneedling or collagen induction therapy, is a professional treatment that uses a device with very fine needles to create tiny, controlled channels in the skin. These micro-channels trigger your skin’s natural healing response, encouraging it to produce fresh collagen and elastin.

Collagen and elastin are what keep skin firm, smooth and resilient. As your skin repairs itself over the weeks after treatment, it gradually looks smoother, firmer and more even. That’s why skin needling is popular for acne scarring, uneven texture, enlarged pores and fine lines.

At Laser and Skin District, every skin needling treatment starts with a skin assessment. We check that the treatment is right for your skin, then tailor the depth and number of sessions to your concerns and goals.

Skin Needling in Kellyville, Tailored to Your Skin

Because skin needling uses your body’s own repair process rather than heat, it can suit a wide range of skin types. We adjust the treatment to the area and the concern: finer, gentler treatment for overall texture and radiance, and more targeted treatment for areas of scarring. To keep you comfortable, a numbing cream is usually applied before your session. Skin needling can also be combined with other treatments as part of a wider plan, and we’ll guide you on the best order and timing for your skin. If you have active breakouts, we’ll usually calm those first before needling the area.

Treatments That Pair Well With Skin Needling

I still get active breakouts...

Active acne needs to be calmed before needling. Our acne management plans help clear your skin first, so you can treat scarring safely.

A pigmentation plan targets dark spots and post-acne marks, complementing the texture improvements from needling.

A chemical peel removes dull surface layers for a brighter complexion and works well as part of a combined plan.

What to Expect From Your Skin Needling Treatment

Chemical peel treatment

Your treatment starts with a consultation, where we assess your skin, discuss your goals and check that skin needling is suitable for you. On the day, your skin is cleansed and a numbing cream is applied for comfort. The needling device is then moved gently over the treatment area, which usually takes around 30 to 45 minutes, followed by a calming serum. Afterwards, your skin will look red, similar to mild sunburn, and may feel warm or tight. This usually settles within one to three days, sometimes with light dryness or flaking. Avoid makeup, heat, exercise and direct sun for the first 24 hours, and wear a broad-spectrum SPF every day. Results build gradually over the following weeks and months as new collagen forms.

Does skin needling hurt?

A numbing cream is applied before treatment, so most people feel only mild pressure or a light scratching sensation. Areas over bone, like the forehead, can feel slightly more sensitive.

Most people need a course of around three to six sessions, spaced four to six weeks apart. Deeper concerns like acne scarring usually need more sessions than general texture improvement.

Some people notice a fresher glow within a week or two. Collagen builds gradually, so the main improvements appear over the following months and continue after your course is complete.

Expect redness, like mild sunburn, for one to three days, sometimes with slight swelling or flaking. Most people plan a quiet day or two after treatment.

Skin needling may not be suitable if you have active acne or a skin infection in the area, a cold sore, a tendency to keloid scarring, or are pregnant, or if you’ve recently used isotretinoin. We’ll check this at your consultation.
