Laser tattoo removal is a professional treatment that uses short, powerful pulses of laser light to break tattoo ink into tiny particles. Over the following weeks, your body’s immune system gradually clears these particles away, and the tattoo fades with each session.
Because the ink sits deep in the skin, tattoo removal happens gradually over a course of treatments, with time between sessions for your body to clear the ink. Some tattoos fade quickly, while others need more sessions, depending on the ink colours, the age of the tattoo and where it is on your body.
At Laser and Skin District, tattoo removal starts with a consultation. We assess your tattoo and skin, explain how many sessions you’re likely to need, and give you honest expectations before you begin.
Tattoo Removal in Kellyville, Tailored to Your Tattoo
Every tattoo is different, so every treatment plan is too. Different ink colours absorb different wavelengths of light, so we adjust the laser settings to the colours and depth of your tattoo, as well as your skin tone. Black and dark blue inks usually respond best, while colours like green, light blue and yellow can be more stubborn. Whether you want to remove a tattoo completely or fade it enough for a new design, we’ll create a plan around your goals and review your progress at every session.
No two tattoos fade at the same rate. These are the main factors that affect how many sessions you’ll need.

Black and dark inks usually fade fastest, while greens, light blues and yellows can take longer.

Older tattoos have often faded naturally, so they may respond more quickly.

Professional tattoos usually contain more ink than amateur ones, so they can need more sessions.

Tattoos closer to the heart often fade faster, due to better circulation.

We adjust the laser to your skin tone to treat the ink safely and protect your skin.

Good circulation and a healthy immune system help your body clear ink. Smoking can slow results.
REMOVAL OPTIONS
Whether you want your tattoo gone completely or just faded enough for a fresh design, we’ll tailor your treatment to your goal.
“Still not sure?” line: Not sure what’s possible for your tattoo? Book a consultation and we’ll assess it and talk you through your options.
For tattoos you want gone for good. A full course of treatments gradually fades the ink until it’s as close to clear skin as possible.
Planning a new design? Fading an old tattoo first gives your tattoo artist more freedom and helps your new piece look its best, often in fewer sessions than full removal.
Want to remove just part of a tattoo, like a name, date or detail? Treatment can target specific areas while leaving the rest of your design in place.
Older and home-made tattoos often contain less ink and have already faded over time, so they can respond well to treatment.
Faded or unwanted cosmetic tattoos, such as eyebrow tattoos, can also be treated. Some cosmetic inks need extra care, so we always assess them first.

Your treatment starts with a consultation, where we assess your tattoo, skin and medical history, and explain how many sessions you're likely to need. On the day, the area is cleaned and a numbing cream or cooling can be used for comfort. The laser is then passed over the tattoo in quick pulses. Most people describe the feeling as a hot snapping sensation, like a rubber band flick, and treatment usually takes just a few minutes for smaller tattoos. Straight after treatment, the tattoo may turn white for a short time, and the area can be red, swollen or tender. Blistering or scabbing can also happen and is part of the healing process. Keep the area clean, don't pick at blisters or scabs, and avoid sun, swimming and hot baths until it heals. Sessions are usually spaced six to eight weeks apart, giving your skin time to heal and your body time to clear the ink.

It depends on your tattoo’s colours, age, size, ink density and location. Many tattoos need somewhere between six and twelve sessions, and fading for a cover-up usually takes fewer. We’ll give you a realistic estimate at your consultation.
Many tattoos can be faded significantly or removed, but complete removal isn’t always possible, especially with certain colours or very dense ink. We’ll give you honest expectations before you start.
Most people feel a hot snapping sensation, often compared to a rubber band flick. Numbing cream and cooling help keep you comfortable, and each session is usually quick.
When performed correctly and with good aftercare, scarring is uncommon. Temporary lightening or darkening of the skin can happen, which usually improves over time. Following your aftercare instructions helps protect your skin.
Treatment may not be suitable if you’re pregnant, have a recent tan or sunburn, have a tendency to keloid scarring, or take medications that make your skin sensitive to light. We’ll check this at your consultation.
